Welcome Kathie Valencia!
We are excited to welcome our newest staff member, Kathie Valencia!  Kathie will be a Program Team Leader and comes to us with a wealth of experience in the child welfare field. Kathie holds a Master's in Management and Leadership as well as a Master's in Psychology and Counseling. Not only has she been a CASA Volunteer for over 6 years, but she has also worked with both CPS and is a licensed Child Placement Agency administrator.  In Kathie's words, "I believe in CASAs important role as they advocate for children in the child welfare system".  She is happy to join our family and we are even happier to welcome her!

Volunteer Spotlight
This month our spotlight shines on Sandi Ramirez.  Sandi has been a CASA since May 2015 and has worked diligently on a very unusual case. Her fierce advocacy and tenacity has helped her CASA kids get the advocacy they truly deserve. Sandi shows up to every monthly hearing, writes court reports, and visits the children several times a month going way beyond her call of duty. She excels at school advocacy, mental advocacy and anything her CASA children need.  The children have bonded with Sandi and know they have a voice through her as their CASA and are happy to have her in their lives during this difficult time.  We are proud and honored to have Sandi as part of our CASA team!
CASA in the Community
EPISD schools Brown MS, Armendariz MS and Burges HS partnered with CASA to sponsor over 300 foster children during their recent book fairs.  A giving tree was set up, allowing
students and families to purchase books to donate to the foster children.  In total, the three schools donated 400 books and some children even drew pictures or wrote letters to the children they sponsored. It's a wonderful example of how the community comes together to help those in need!  Thank you to the librarians at all three schools and to volunteer supervisor Jackie Heins for doing all the leg work.  There is no better gift than a good book!

Thank you to Brady Industries!  CASA of El Paso was surprised to receive a generous corporate donation giving back to the community in which they operate.  We were chosen because of our mission and work with the abused and neglected children in El Paso. Thank you Brady Industries!
As you contemplate your year end donations, please consider CASA of El Paso!  All donations stay locally to help us advocate for more of the abused and neglected children of El Paso County.
